Today, I want to talk about my life in New Zealand.\u202fIt\u2019s\u202fbeen over nine months since I came here, and a lot has happened. I\u202fcan\u2019t\u202fbelieve that\u202fwe\u2019ll\u202fbe back in Japan in about two weeks!\u202fI\u2019ve\u202fexperienced so many things here. If I tried to write about all of them, I could\u202fwrite\u202fa whole book. I wish I could talk about everything, but\u202fyou\u2019d\u202fprobably get\u202fbored, so\u202fI\u2019ll\u202fshare with you just one of my best experiences. But first, let me talk about my life here.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My school life at Pompallier is more exciting than in Japan. We can choose the subjects we want to take, so school\u202fisn\u2019t\u202fboring\u2014it\u2019s\u202finteresting. Oh, wait. I\u202fdon\u2019t\u202fmean that schools in Japan are boring\u2026 well,\u202fmaybe just\u202fa little bit. Anyway, let me get back to what I was saying.\u202fSchool\u202fhere is interesting.\u202fI\u2019m\u202ftaking some subjects that I\u202fcan\u2019t\u202ftake in Japan.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My favorite subject is Art.\u202fI\u2019ve\u202falways liked drawing, so I decided to take this class. I tried oil painting for the first time.\u202fIt\u2019s\u202fdifferent from acrylic or watercolor painting. I\u202fdon\u2019t\u202fknow how to express it, but in oil painting the colors are deeper and more vivid. It also takes a few days or even weeks to dry completely, so\u202fit\u2019s\u202fpossible to paint over it many times. However, the smell is\u202fvery strong\u202fand\u202fit\u2019s\u202fdifficult to use. I personally like the smell\u2014I\u202fdon\u2019t\u202fknow why, but I just do.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, let me talk about what I do in my\u202ffree\u202ftime. After school, I do my assignments and read books that I borrow from the library, or I draw\u202fsomething. On weekends, I usually go to town by bus and visit the library to read or study. I also like to walk around and look at the shops.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u3000Finally, I want to talk about one of my favorite experiences here \u2014 \u201cthe school ball.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0
\nIt\u202fisn\u2019t\u202fthe kind of ball that we use when we play basketball or volleyball.\u202fIt\u2019s\u202fa kind of party where students dance and spend time with their friends.\u202fI\u202fwasn\u2019t\u202fplanning to go to the ball at first because the tickets were expensive, and I thought it\u202fwouldn\u2019t\u202fbe my kind of place.\u202fI\u2019m\u202fnot the type of teenager who goes to parties and has fun chatting or dancing. Honestly, I know that\u202fI\u2019m\u202fa\u202fpretty bad\u202fdancer, and that was another reason I\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202fwant to go.\u202fHowever, my friends said that it\u202fwasn\u2019t\u202fimportant to dance well \u2014 the most important thing was just to have fun. They invited me to the ball, and I decided to go. My host sister lent me a red dress. It was\u202fa very beautiful\u202fdress \u2014 the most beautiful and gorgeous one I\u202fhad\u202fever seen in my life.\u202fIn Japan, I had never worn a dress because I thought it was strange, and I\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202flike wearing one.\u202fI\u2019m\u202fmore of a \u201cpants-type\u201d girl. However, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try wearing a dress, so I wore the one I borrowed from my host\u202fsister.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>I\u202falso bought my own heels. It was my first time wearing heels, so it felt a bit strange at first, but I liked the feeling of being taller than usual.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Japan, we\u202fdon\u2019t\u202fhave school balls, so I really\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202fknow how to act or what to do at the beginning. But over time, it became fun, and I had\u202fa great time\u202fwith my friends. We danced and talked a lot.\u202fI even talked\u202fto\u202fsome people\u202fI\u202fhad\u202fonly known by\u202fnames\u202for face\u202fbefore, so it was a really\u202fgood experience.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
