Kia ora koutou (Hello everyone).\u202fI’m\u202fKotone.\u202fI’m\u202fa Year 12 student at Paeroa College.\u202fIt’s already winter here, and I’m freezing every morning, so it is harder\u202fto get out of bed.\u202fNow,\u202fI’m\u202fgoing to share some\u202fof my\u202fexperiences with you from now on.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0
\n\u202f\u202fFirstly,\u202fI’m\u202fgoing to tell you about my lovely host family. My current host family members are my host mum, my host dad, a girl\u202ffrom Finland, two cute dogs, and a cat. They always take great care of me and are supportive of everything I try to do,<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/b>especially\u202fwhen I hesitate to do something new. Until a couple of days ago, a girl from Sweden was living with us, but she moved to another town. Even though she and I\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202fgo to the same school, sharing what happened at school every night was fun, and she gave me some advice when I was in trouble. Thanks to her, I made some good memories even though we were together for only\u202fa short time, and\u202fI’m\u202fso happy to have met her. I really miss her now.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\u202f\u202fSecondly,\u202fI’m\u202fgoing to talk about my school life in NZ. Fortunately, I have many nice people around me who support me, and I can have\u202fa good time\u202fwith them. They are always kind to me and make me laugh. Also, thanks to some of them, I was able to make\u202fconnections\u202fwith various people\u202fdespite our differences in age and nationality.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The other day, I decided to change\u202fa class. I used to take a class called Legal Studies and learned about law. As time went by, I started to feel uncomfortable staying there and thought it was not what I really wanted to learn. I asked my international dean if I could change the class. He said that it would be difficult to do so because it was\u202falmost the\u202fend of the term. I struggled with it a lot because we had just\u202f10 weeks\u202fleft of school in New Zealand, but I\u202fdidn\u2019t\u202fwant to stay\u202fin\u202fthat class\u202fanymore, so I\u202fmade a decision\u202fto take a step and changed the class.\u202fTo be honest, I was so scared\u202fduring the first time in the new class, but everyone was kind to me and welcomed me more than I had expected.\u202fI\u2019ve\u202fgot just\u202fa short time\u202fto study with them, but\u202fI’m\u202fso glad that I made this decision.\u202fAlso, in this new class, I was able to make new connections with various people.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u202fThirdly,\u202fI’m\u202fgoing to talk to you about what\u202fI\u2019ve\u202flearned through my life in New Zealand. At first, I expected that things would mostly go well somehow before I came to NZ and for a couple of days after I arrived in New Zealand.\u202fHowever, it was completely different in reality.\u202fThings go on as usual if I\u202fdon’t\u202fexpress my own opinion or say what I want to do. It means people\u202fcan\u2019t\u202funderstand what I think if I\u202fdon\u2019t\u202ftry to convey it. Otherwise, things will just move on.\u202fI’ve\u202flearnt that expressing what\u202fI\u202fwant to do or\u202fdon’t\u202fwant to do is\u202fvery important\u202fin New Zealand, even though my English is not good. To be honest,\u202fI’m\u202fstill scared to act like this even though\u202fit\u2019s\u202fbeen more than seven months. However, I\u202fdon\u2019t\u202fwant to miss a valuable chance because a chance may only come once.\u202fI’ll\u202ftry as many things as I can and want to have\u202fa good time\u202funtil I go back to Japan.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
