Hi, how have you guys been? I\u2019m Yuina. I go to Horowhenua college in Levin, NZ. It is spring in NZ now and it\u2019s so nice and warm. I also sometimes see cherry blossom in the neighbourhood. I can\u2019t believe I have only less than 2 months to stay here. I had a lot of fun times and some hard times, so I\u2019ll share about NZ life immediately.<\/p>\n

First, I\u2019ll talk about my host family. I live with my host mum. She is a lovely person and she has a big, kind heart. At first, I couldn\u2019t communicate with her well because I didn\u2019t have confidence in my English and I was afraid to make a mistake, and also I didn\u2019t want her to feel bad. However, I noticed it\u2019s good to increase communication. After that I tried to talk and help her more. Now I really enjoy staying with her. On the weekend, we watch movies and do puzzles that she borrowed from the library. In summer, we often went to the beach, and we ate fish & chips while seeing the beach. She told me \u201cSome NZ people see the beach while eating fish & chips. It\u2019s NZ things,\u201d so I\u2019m looking forward to go to the beach again soon. She often teaches me NZ things such as foods and I always try it, so some people have told me \u201cyou are so kiwi\u201d. I\u2019m happy to stay with her.<\/p>\n

Next, I\u2019ll talk about school. I\u2019m taking ESOL, math, science, art, dance and Japanese. My favourite subject is dance class because I can\u2019t take dance class at school in Japan and we sometimes decide dance by ourselves and I enjoy it with my friends. I had a dance competition 3 times. I performed musical dance with classmates twice, and trio dance with my friends. I practiced those for a long time and I sometimes practiced after school with my friends. I hadn\u2019t performed dance on the stage before, so I was a little bit nervous, but it was really fun to dance with my classmates. I had a good time.<\/p>\n

Lastly, I would like to share a good experience which I can\u2019t experience in Japan. I joined pasifika fusion. It\u2019s for the pasifika people such as Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu and they performed the traditional dance and song on the stage. I joined it because my school teacher told me \u201cA Japanese girl who came this school last year really enjoyed it. You should try it,\u201d so I decided to go there. I had a lot of practice and it was sometimes hard, but when I finished performing, many people said to me \u201cyou were so good!!\u201d, so I was glad to join it and I\u2019ve had a good experience that I couldn\u2019t have in Japan.<\/p>\n

I want to talk about my NZ life more, but I have to finish, so I\u2019ll talk a lot after I come back. I\u2019m so happy to have met my good host family, friends, teachers and NZ peoples. I only have 2 months to spend with my favourite people, but I\u2019ll enjoy and treasure the rest of my time with them. I\u2019d like to say thank you to my family and teachers for supporting a me a lot from Japan.<\/p>\n
