Hello, everyone! \u00a0I\u2019m Ririko. \u00a0I\u2019ve already been here for nine months and I\u2019ve got just a month to go. \u00a0I\u2019ve led a full life so far and time has passed in a flash. \u00a0It seems as if it was only a month ago or so that I came here, but actually it was nine months ago. \u00a0This year, 2014 has been the fastest year and one of the most wonderful years of my life. \u00a0I\u2019ll tell you about my amazing life in New Zealand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019m living in Whangarei, which is located in the northern part of the North Island. \u00a0It was winter until recently and it was cold. \u00a0It wasn\u2019t as cold as Fukui\u2019s winter though. \u00a0It rained pretty much every day, but now the weather has become much warmer and better!<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
I\u2019m living with my host father, mother and a cat. \u00a0They\u2019ve hosted many students from abroad for a long time so they always tell me various stories of the students they\u2019ve had. \u00a0I also heard they used to run a lodge and they like moving houses. \u00a0It\u2019s fun to listen to such interesting stories. \u00a0My host mother\u2019s good at cooking and my host father\u2019s good at gardening. \u00a0They have lots of friends and we often have dinner with them. \u00a0Our cat is called Missy and is friendly. \u00a0I\u2019m lucky to have met such nice people!<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
I go to Pompallier Catholic College and take ESOL, English, Math, Science, Religious Study, Sports, Hospitality and Music. \u00a0The first five are compulsory subjects. \u00a0My favourite is Sports. I like the class because I can make friends and because I enjoy playing sports I\u2019d never played in Japan. \u00a0I found hockey an exciting sport! \u00a0I want to play it in Japan as well! There are lots of opportunities to cook in Hospitality class compared to Japan. \u00a0In Japan, before we actually cook in a class, we have a class to check a recipe and what ingredients we need. \u00a0However, here, we get a recipe just before starting to cook. \u00a0We sometimes have cooking assessments and we have to make a dish assigned by the teacher individually. Sometimes it\u2019s tough for me because I didn\u2019t really cook in Japan, but actually I\u2019ve made lots of dishes so far so I\u2019m sure I can cook better than I used to. \u00a0The subjects I struggle the most with are Religious study and Science. \u00a0There are many technical words, and I didn\u2019t have any knowledge of Catholic ways at all, so it is hard for me to keep up with the classes. \u00a0However, my friends and teacher have always taught me kindly so I\u2019ve been trying to work hard.\u00a0<\/div>\n

I have three memorable school events, which are the school ball, running in cross country and a dance contest. \u00a0The school ball was like a formal dance party and we all dressed up and danced! Everyone looked stunning in their dresses. \u00a0I wish we had a school ball in Jin-ai. \u00a0In cross country, we ran 4 km. \u00a0The day was awful because it was pouring with rain and there were lots of hills and mud. \u00a0I was exhausted, but it was a funny memory. \u00a0In the dance contest, we got into groups and each group choreographed, and then we performed in front of other groups. \u00a0I was nervous, but I really enjoyed dancing with my group members.\u00a0<\/div>\n

very single thing that I\u2019ve done has been wonderful and unforgettable. \u00a0I have been able to study English in New Zealand thanks to my family, my teachers and my friends. \u00a0All of them have been supporting me a lot. \u00a0I can\u2019t thank them enough. \u00a0In the rest of my time here, I\u2019ll do my best so that I won\u2019t regret not having achieved what I can do here.\u00a0<\/div>\n
