Hello. \u00a0I\u2019m Erika Kawaguchi. \u00a0It\u2019s getting colder in New Zealand. \u00a0However, we don\u2019t get snow in my town, Hastings, so it\u2019s much warmer than it is in winter in Fukui. \u00a0I go to Hastings Girls’ High School. \u00a0Nearly half of a year has passed since I came here! \u00a0Time flies so fast! \u00a0I\u2019ve faced a lot of exciting things and hard experiences\u2026.. So I\u2019ll write about them.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
At school, I\u2019m taking seven subjects, which are ESOL, music, maths, sport studies, multi technology, geography and self-study. \u00a0Oh, needless to say, we can arrange our own timetable! \u00a0It\u2019s really cool, isn\u2019t it? \u00a0My favourite classes are music and geography. \u00a0My school has many instruments, so I\u2019ve borrowed a violin. \u00a0I used to play the violin but I hadn\u2019t played it for a long time. \u00a0However, I have started to play it again! \u00a0Sometimes, I have a chance to play it in the class, and I enjoy playing it and performing. \u00a0In geography class, we\u2019re learning about a diamond. \u00a0To be honest, I didn\u2019t want to take geography because I don\u2019t like it at all and because this class is a year13 class which is a senior class. \u00a0There were complicated stories which eventually made me take it. \u00a0However, I find geography interesting! \u00a0Even if I have a negative idea at first, trying new things will be a nice opportunity to find some positive ideas!<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
A few weeks ago, I took part in a \u201cChamber Music Concert\u201d as a violin player with my lovely group. This was a kind of musical competition in New Zealand. \u00a0One day, suddenly my name was called by a music teacher, and she just said \u201cYou can play the violin so please come to the music suite every Friday at 9.00.\u201d \u00a0I was surprised and confused but I kept going there every week. \u00a0In my group, there were three violins, one viola, and one piano, and our group was called \u201cB A TRIBUTE.\u201d \u00a0At first, I didn\u2019t want to practice because I didn\u2019t even know why I was practicing. \u00a0Our music was not difficult so it was alright, but I was poor in musical knowledge, so it was hard for me to discuss everything in English such as what our performance was like and if our performance was good or not. \u00a0However, we had prepared ourselves for the concert for a long time and we were getting better. \u00a0Besides, we were becoming good friends with each other! \u00a0The concert went awesome. \u00a0Actually we performed at a public facility and in the assembly as well. \u00a0This photo was taken at the public facility. \u00a0Although the other girls in the picture are not from my group, they are my lovely friends. \u00a0I had great experiences.<\/div>\n

By the way, have you read the previous essays which were written by my classmates, Natsuka and Manayo? \u00a0If you haven\u2019t, I recommend you read them! \u00a0There are many interesting stories and discoveries :). \u00a0 I was surprised because they have started to do something new such as fishing, composing music and rock climbing. \u00a0So, I\u2019ve decided to start doing something new like them. \u00a0This is my goal for July!<\/div>\n

Lastly, I have four months and a bit left to live here, but I am really looking forward to seeing my friends, family, and teachers in Japan :). \u00a0 I\u2019d like to say thank you to everyone who supports us.\u00a0<\/div>\n
