\u3000Hi, guys. How have you been? I\u2019m Haruna. It\u2019s getting warmer and warmer here. I can\u2019t believe about 8 months have already passed. The time flies so fast. I\u2019ve spent a great time with my host family and my friends, so I want to share my New Zealand life with you.
\n\u3000<\/span>I go to Horowhenua College in Levin. I take 6 subjects and my favorite subject is carpentry. Now, I\u2019m making steps for my host family as my last project. I\u2019ve made three things so far: a cabinet, chopping board, and serving tray. My first project was the cabinet. I had no idea what I should do, so I often asked my teacher. One time when I asked my teacher, the teacher said to me\u201d Get the square.\u201d I had no idea what \u201cthe square\u201d meant. I thought, \u201cWhat is the square? I cannot see any \u201csquare\u201d\u201d Then, I asked again \u201cwhat is a square?\u201d It is called sashigane <\/em>in Japanese. Maybe, someone knows this name but it was a new word for me. I learned many tools\u2019 name both in English and Japanese in this class. I don\u2019t think I\u2019m going to become a carpenter in the future but it was a good experience for me. I learned an important thing, which is \u2018asking questions\u2019. The first few times were so hard for me because I was not good at asking something, even in Japanese. But I started to ask questions to any teacher and kiwi students and now they are my good friends. I sometimes hung out with them to celebrate our birthdays.
\n\u3000<\/span>My host family is a wonderful family. They have three kids, 5 and 3-year-old boys and a 1-year-old girl. This family is busy every day. I always play with kids after school. It was hard to understand what the kids said to me. Sometimes I still cannot understand what they say but their parents can\u2019t understand, either. Children are learning how to speak English as well. To be honest, I really enjoy talking with kids because their imagination is so funny. Maybe, I\u2019m going to miss their voice when I go back to Japan because I spend a lot of time with them. My host parents are so kind. They both like cooking, so I sometimes cook with them. One of my memories with this family is a North Island car trip. We had a lot of drama in this travel but it was a really fun time. It was a long car ride, so I could enjoy talking with kids. We went to Taupo, Waitomo, Auckland, and Rotorua. We enjoyed all of the activities and I could make many good memories with them.
\n\u3000<\/span>I\u2019m enjoying staying here. It is sad to say goodbye to all of my friends, teachers, and this family. I want to enjoy the rest of this homestay and grow up as much as I can. Thank you for reading until the end.
