Hello. I’m Miyu. I go to Cullinane College in Wanganui. About two months have passed since I came to New Zealand. I feel the time passes so quickly. I found a lot of differences between Japan and New Zealand. Also, I experienced many interesting things. All of them are new for me. Today, I’ll talk about some of my experience and memories.
First, I’ll talk about clubs. In the first term, I join volleyball, environmental, and Japanese clubs. Also, I play soccer outside of school. Actually, I didn’t intend to join the volleyball club at first. During the first week of school, a girl said something to me and I couldn’t understand what she said but I signed up on the paper and I joined it before I knew it. At first, I was worried about my volleyball skills and nervous because I played it only at class time in Japan and I don’t know the rules exactly. While I played the first game, I realized that I don’t need to be nervous because most of the players were the same level as me. They taught me volleyball rules and I enjoy playing it. I’ve learned that the club’s system is different from Japan. After volleyball games, I have a soccer game, so I am so busy every Wednesday. Before I came here, I was planning to join the football club at school, but football is a winter sport in New Zealand, so it’ll start in the second term. I was really surprised to learn that. During PE class, I saw some girls kick a ball, so I asked them where I can play football and they invited me to a soccer game on Wednesday nights. I was very happy because I made friends through football and I’ve learned that talking actively is important. Now we play five on five, so the court and goal are small. I can’t wait to play soccer with a big court and goal. I am really looking forward to the second term starting.
Next, I’ll talk about my birthday. Near my birthday, my host family had to go to Australia, so I stayed at my teacher’s house for a week. On my birthday, she drove me and my friends to Palmerston North. My town is located in the countryside, so it doesn’t have a shopping mall and amusement facilities but it is abundant with nature. I think my town is similar to Fukui. It takes an hour from my town to Palmerston North by car, so I think my town, Wanganui, is like Fukui and Palmerston North is like Kanazawa in Japan. In the morning, I went to a big shopping mall and bought the same hair band with my friends. After shopping, we went bowling and went to a trampoline facility. These places were so interesting and I had good memories on my birthday. After we came home, my teacher bought a video game that I recommended to her. I played many video games, including it, with her. In Japan, I played it every weekend, so I missed it. I was really happy that I could video games.
I still can’t speak English exactly as I want, but I’ll keep studying English and talking with my family and friends naturally. Also, I am grateful to my family who let me come here, as well as my teachers, friends and host family who always support me. Thank you for reading!
こんにちは。みゆです。私はワンガヌイ地方のカリナンカレッジに通っています。ニュージーランドに来て約2ヶ月が過ぎました。時間が過ぎるのはとても早いと感じています。私はこの2ヶ月で日本とニュージーランドのたくさんの違いを見つけ、いろいろな新しい経験もしました。今日はその経験や思い出の一部をお話しようと思います。
まず、部活についてです。１学期はバレーボール部、環境部、日本語部に入っています。また、学校外でサッカーもしています。実は私は最初バレーボール部に入るつもりはありませんでした。しかし、学校に通い始めた1週目、ある女の子が私に何か言っていましたが、私は英語を理解出来ず勧められるままに紙にサインしました。その紙がバレーボール部の入部用紙だったのだと思いますが、いつの間にかバレーボール部に入ることになっていました。日本では授業でしかバレーをしたことがなくルールも正確に分からないので、とても緊張していました。でも、初めて試合に行った日に緊張しなくても大丈夫だと感じました。そこにいるほとんどが私と同じくらいのレベルだったからです。また、みんなルールなどを説明してくれて試合を楽しむことが出来ました。そして日本とニュージーランドの部活のあり方の違いを感じました。いつもバレーボールの試合の後にサッカーの試合に行っています。だから、水曜日はとても忙しいです。ここに来る前まで私はサッカー部に入ろうと思っていました。しかし、サッカーは冬のスポーツなので、始まるのは２学期からでした。それを知って驚きました。体育の時間に数人の女の子がサッカーボールを蹴っているのを見て自分から話しかけに行ってみました。その子達は私を水曜日のサッカーの試合に誘ってくれ、友達もできとても良かったです。そして自分から話しかけることの大切さを学びました。今は5対5でコートもゴールも小さいので、はやく学校の部活が始まって、大きなコートでプレーしたいです。
次に私の誕生日について話します。私の誕生日があった週は、私のホストファミリーが所用でオーストラリアに行かなければいけないことになり、私は先生の家に1週間泊まることになりました。そして誕生日の日に先生は私と友達をパーマストンノースに連れて行ってくれました。私の町は田舎にあり、ショッピングモールや遊ぶ施設などがなく自然がたくさんあります。私の町からパーマストンノースまでは車で1時間ほどかかります。日本で例えると私の町が福井でパーマストンノースが金沢のような感じです。そして誕生日の日は朝からショッピングモールに行き、みんなでお揃いのヘアバンドを買ったり、たくさんのお店を見て回ったりしました。その後、ボーリングやトランポリンの施設に行きました。これらの施設はとても楽しかったです。また家に帰ると先生が私のお勧めしたゲームを買ってくれて一緒にたくさんのゲームをして遊びました。日本では私は毎週末ゲームをしていたので久しぶりにゲームを沢山できて嬉しかったです。
まだ自分が思うように英語を話せないですが、英語の勉強を続けて友達や家族と自然に話せるようになりたいです。 また、ここに私を来させてくれた家族やいつも支えてくれているホストファミリー、友達、先生に感謝でいっぱいです。読んでくださりありがとうございました！
