From NZ(Mio)

Hi guys! How have you been? I’m Mio. I go to Bream Bay College in Ruakaka, Whangarei as a year 11 student. I’m spending an enjoyable time in New Zealand. I’m going to share my life in NZ.
First, I would like to introduce my host family. The members of my host family are my host mom and dad. They are so nice and kind to me, and they treat me like a real family. I love them. Both of them are really good at cooking. We sometimes cook dinner or desserts together such as pasta, burgers, lasagna, cheesecakes and brownies. The dishes that they cook are so delicious. They are from South Africa, so they teach me how to cook South African dishes as well. Also, they tell me about their country. My host mom works as a hospitality teacher in the same school as mine and my host dad is also a teacher in another school in Whangarei. On weekdays, we go to school together. Sometimes, we go for a walk and drive after school. There is a beach near our house. The view from the beach is so beautiful, especially when it’s sunset. It makes me relaxed. I like doing things with them.
Second, I am going to share my school life. The teachers in Bream Bay College are kind and talk to me in a friendly way. They always teach and explain to me when I don’t know what to do. Also, my friends help me and work together when I’m stuck on work. I have been helped by all of them.
Bream Bay College had a school ball in term 2. Before the school ball, I was worried if I would be able to enjoy the event because I didn’t have a lot of friends, but through the practice, I made a lot of new friends and enjoyed the event.
Another good memory of my school life is a badminton tournament. Recently, I had a girls’ tournament for badminton. I didn’t join any clubs in term 1 and 2 so I decided to participate in the tournament. I was looking forward to joining the tournament with the students from my school, but I didn’t know who would come and I was nervous a little bit. But they were kind so I could really enjoy the tournament. When I lost games, they encouraged me and when I won, they told me ‘Well done’. I was glad. They are year 12 and 13 so I had never talked with them but through the tournament, I was glad that I had a chance to speak with the students in year 12 and 13.
I can’t believe that there are less than two months before I leave. I will miss my host family and friends when I leave here. I want to enjoy the rest of the time and spend each day to the fullest so that I won’t have any regrets after my life of studying abroad finishes.

こんにちは。お元気ですか。美桜です。ファンガレイのルアカカにあるブリームベイカレ ッジに 11 年生として通っています。私はニュージーランドで楽しい時間を過ごしています。 私の留学生活についてお伝えします。
初めに、私のホストファミリーを紹介しようと思います。私のホストファミリーはマザー とファザーです。私のホストファミリーは優しく、私を本当の家族のように扱ってくれます。 私は二人が大好きです。二人とも料理が得意で私たちはたまに一緒にパスタやハンバーガー、 ラザニア、チーズケーキ、ブラウニーなどの夕食やデザートを作ります。私のホストファミ リーは南アフリカ出身で南アフリカの料理も教えてくれます。また、南アフリカのことにつ いても話してくれます。マザーは私と同じ学校で料理を教えていて、ファザーはファンガレ の別の学校で先生をしています。学校まではホストファザーが送ってくれます。時々、家に 帰った後散歩をしたりドライブに行ったりします。私たちの家は海の近くにあり、そこから の景色はとても綺麗でリラックスさせてくれます。私はホストファミリーと何かをするのが 好きです。
次は学校生活についてです。ブリームベイの先生達は優しくてフレンドリーに話しかけて くれます。私が何をすべきかわからない時は説明してくれます。また、私が課題で行き詰ま った時は、友達が助けてくれます。私は皆に助けられています。
学校の行事として、2学期にスクールボールがありました。その時は友達が少なかったの で楽しめるか不安でしたが、ボールの練習を通して友達ができ、ボールを楽しむことができ ました。
もう一つの思い出は、バトミントンの大会です。最近女子のバトミントン大会に出場し ました。私は1学期と2学期は部活に入らなかったので、その大会に参加することに決め ました。私は他の生徒と大会に参加するのを楽しみにしていましたが、私は誰が参加する のか知らなかったので少し緊張していました。でも他の生徒の子達は優しかったので楽し むことができました。私が負けた時は、励ましてくれたり、勝った時は「頑張ったね」っ て言ってくれたりしたので嬉しかったです。参加した生徒のほとんど全員が 12 年生と 13 年生だったので、それまで話したことがありませんでしたが、この大会を通して他の学年 の生徒と話せたので嬉しかったです。
残りの留学生活が 2 ヶ月を切ったことが信じられません。後悔のないよう残された時間 を楽しんで 1 日 1 日を大切に過ごしたいです。
