Hello. How are you? Are you enjoying your school life? Now I’m really enjoying my life in NZ! I live in Morrinsville. It is a small town, and it has many cows! I really like Morrinsville and NZ. There are beautiful places to see and visit. This is a really nice place!

I go to Morrinsville College. I take English, math, biology, geography, music, and ESOL classes. Math is very easy, because I’ve already studied this material before! Geography and biology are really hard for me because there are lots of big words. But, we have field trips in geography, biology and other classes, so I can visit many places and they are good opportunities for me to see around NZ.

Last term, I only talked a little with Kiwi students, because I was a little bit scared to talk to them. I thought I should improve my English first. This term, I decided to communicate with Kiwi students, and now I talk to them more than before. After the holidays, I asked one of my classmates, “How was your holiday?” I always start conversations, “How are you, today?” “What’s going on?” and so on. Even though the words I use are very simple, it is very important to start conversations with them. I found that if I say nothing, no one will talk to me, because they think I don’t want to talk to anyone. It’s hard, but it’s very important for me to initiate conversations.

It’s very difficult for me to write down or tell people my opinions, because I don’t have a large vocabulary. This is one of the most difficult things now. In NZ almost all the questions in the tests begin with “Explain…” “Describe…” So it’s very important to enrich your vocabulary while you are in Japan. Read many books and talk to the ALT s to help you acquire a lot of words.

I guess by now you’ve found that your school work is very hard. I know it’s really hard for you! But never give up! I’m sure that it will be a great help when you begin a new life in NZ.?
See you!
